I’m too far to get with you !
We use to have LAN party with mixed Linux and Windows clients. Wolfenstein Enemy Territory, True Combat Elite, Urban Terror, TA Spring are our favorite games !

We have also a Linux server which can server games via PXE to “thin” OpenGL clients (PC without hardrive/cdrom). We can then remotly start/switch/pause/stop games for dozen of clients from a single point !

Try Tremulous, its like ALIEN ARENA made with the free Quake 3 engine.

Many LAN parties I’ve been to almost always seem to have a copy of Total Annihilation playing somewhere…

So here’s a open source version called Spring Project here:

You should try Alien Arena as well. I’ve just recently started playing it and have to admit, it is a lot of fun
